Providing HIV consultation, education and mentoring to healthcare professionals
The Howard University HBCU-HIV/HCV Prevention Program (H3P)
The Howard University HBCU-HIV/HCV Prevention Program (H3P) is focused on addressing HIV and Hepatitis C (HCV) prevention among students currently enrolled on the campus of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
The project will train campus health service providers on PrEP and effective HIV and HCV testing and counseling approaches. Simultaneously, the project will conduct a social marketing campaign targeting students to raise their awareness of the HIV threat and how to reduce their personal risk of infection.
This will be accomplished via enhancing participants’ skills and knowledge on ways to protect themselves from contracting HIV and HCV via behavioral and biomedically approved approaches such as PrEP.
This Project is funded by a grant from Gilead Sciences, Inc.
